Plumbing pipes made of PVC are renowned for their adaptability, lightweight, and blockage resistance. Although it is occasionally utilised as a home's main water supply pipe, PVC piping is typically employed as part of a sink, toilet, or shower drain line.

Various benefits of having PVC plumbing pipes are-

1. Affordable-

The lightweight characteristics of PVC reduce the amount of manpower required for installation and the price of shipping the material. The transportation becomes easier and thus the total cost gets reduced.

2. High water pressure resistance-

PVC is stiff and difficult to bend, but the pipe does have some flexibility that makes it able to tolerate the continuous inflow of high water pressure. It can tolerate huge pressure of water and does not break or crack easily.

3. Blockage-resistant-

The PVC pipe's smooth inside lining facilitates faster drainage while guarding against sediment accumulation and obstructions. It ensures that any material does not stay in there. It allows the material to flow through it so it does not block easily.

However, there are certain demerits of using it also-

1. Not safe-

PVC pipes have the potential to leak chemicals into drinking water, exposing people to high levels of polyvinyl chloride and possibly resulting in reproductive and respiratory problems. It tends to affect the quality of water flowing through it. The water of the best quality is important to ensure that one’s health is maintained. PVC affects the quality and thus is not a healthy option.

2. Limited size possibilities-

PVC piping's limited size options can make it useless in confined spaces. It does not give flexibility to the makers to make products of various sizes and varieties.

3. Warping-

PVC will warp when exposed to hot water, just as many other forms of plastic. Thus, it is not possible to use it at all the places in the house plumbing system because there is a need for hot water. In cold weather, it won’t be able to comfort the users with hot water.

Thus, PVC has its set of demerits that make it not suitable for household purposes. All these demerits are overcome by using stainless steel plumbing fittings. These pipes are very safe and flexible. The manufacturers can bend it to achieve the desired size and design. There are many manufacturers available in the market that provide stainless steel fittings to their customers. The customers can evaluate the quality of ss fittings before buying them to be sure of their quality.

SS pipe fittings are stronger and more durable than any other type of material and this is the reason why stainless steel pipe fittings are used to replace other types of material.
